Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones - Proverbs 16:23-25

Summer Fleming
LSWAIC

Adopted at a young age, as an orphan after losing my family to genocide, my formative years were dedicated to absorbing a new language and culture. Complemented by the joy of playing outdoors on our extensive forested property, the natural world was a pivotal teacher, imparting lessons on life's intricate and sophisticated nature.

These early experiences shaped my passion for employing my innate talents and interpersonal abilities to do compassionate work. With this aim, I pursued higher education, attaining a degree in Human Services from Western Washington University and a Master's in Social Work from Eastern Washington University.

Marriage brought profound happiness, and the subsequent transition to parenthood became my crowning joy. The privilege of nurturing and educating my children at home allowed me to delve deeply into child development, recognizing its complexity in cultivating well-rounded individuals. Our commitment to a holistic and creative upbringing inspired our move to a rural setting at the crest of the Mountains in the Wilderness within the National Forest, infusing our children with resilience, critical thinking, practical skills, and steadfast courage.

I dedicate myself to community service, music leadership, event planning, homeschooling, homesteading, and practical use of natural treatments and remedies.  My focus is fortifying our spiritual life as I embrace wilderness adventures, husbandry, gardening, processing and preserving, and foraging—activities that bond us with nature and serve as practical education in self-reliance, strong faith, and health in mind, body, and spirit.

My professional practice is characterized by compassion, empathy, and honesty, guiding others through their struggles, be it emotional turmoil or mental health challenges. I am steadfast in confronting issues directly, encouraging progress and goal attainment. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, supplemented by Christian principles where welcomed, and always maintaining a holistic perspective.

I offer support across a spectrum of concerns, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, life transitions, trauma, grief, and the complexities of interpersonal relationships. My dedication to continual learning in mental health ensures that I can provide the most effective and empathetic support possible. Ultimately, I am here to do kind work. To serve my fellow man, a life rule I live by, "If you want to be great, learn to be a servant of all."
